There is a lot more to the plan than the limited subsidy; indeed I'd call the stuff aimed at boosting homebuilding much more important.

2 cents from an affordable home builder: Offering a subsidy to construct starter homes - might have more impact on prices. Incentivizing the creation of supply can help address the lack of affordable inventory more than stimulating more demand.

That said…I applaud this effort. Go blue…

Some more thinking on affordable housing and failures of imagination…

Thanks Al. I agree with you, the supply side has to be looked at as well, and Harris’ plan apparently includes incentives like these. But of course those aren’t as fun to attack for MAGA.

I was literally just reading this wonderful article by Noah Smith. Yes, great points, there is a lot more to Harris’ plan than the down payment assistance. The supply side stuff is at least as important if not more. Really, it should be pretty easy to get bipartisan support for this proposal, but we know that’s almost impossible in an election year with such a divided country.

Thank you … can someone ask JDV to publish his home affordability plan? Or at least provide the page number from Project 2025…

They aren't totally wrong. This is what happened with college tuition.

They are just overselling it.
