The bill would have set loose limits on border crossings at about 5,700 daily. The idiocy of the bill was why it was defeated. Biden can close the border the same way he opened it. Or, do you not know that one of the many actions Biden took to open the border was to cancel Trump’s remain in Mexico policy? The "5700 border crossings daily" is not true. The bill specifically dictates that if border ENCOUNTERS, not crossings, reach an average of 5000/day, then the border will be shut down. This is a highly restrictive approach and is not even close to meaning there will be allowed to be 5000 illegal crossing per day.
And, sure, Biden is less restrictive than Trump overall, but mostly on a humanitarian level. For example, the "remain in Mexico" policy was halted under Biden, partly because it was more costly to deal with them, as legally required, if migrants had to wait for asylum approval in Mexico; but also because they were subjected to more violence and unsafe conditions, which is the whole point of them claiming asylum in the first place.
Also, there are other examples of Biden trying to keep Trump policies in force, but being overruled by the courts. We could go back and forth all day. But the one example you mentioned is not the whole comprehensive takedown you think it is. He stopped a few Trump policies, kept others, tried to have a bipartisan bill passed that would be even more restrictive than Trump was, and it is a fact that he was expelling migrants at a higher rate than Trump did.
