Take Care, Joe. And Thank You.
Goodbye to exactly what America needed, exactly when it needed it
When I saw the news that Joe Biden decided to drop out of the election, I was both sad and relieved. Not relieved because now Democrats suddenly had a better chance to beat Trump.
I was relieved for Joe.
The smear campaign being waged by both prominent Democratic leadership and lesser-known congresspeople was both unprecedented and undeserved. I was glad he didn’t have to endure any more of the humiliation.
Even though I believe this forced pivot away from Biden was misguided, I am positive and hopeful for Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and believe she will beat Trump. I am sure I will write more on this in the future, but for now, I want to focus on Biden and his legacy.
Just when America needed a stable, empathetic voice the most, they got it in Joe Biden. The political hellishness that four years of Donald Trump unleashed onto our country needed to be contained and pushed back into oblivion. Joe Biden contained it but needed longer to push it back. It was a powerful force, and still is.
His job wasn’t done. But he did the best he could under the worst of circumstances. Better than anyone else could have. And the country is much, much better off because of him.
It’s hard to say if four more years of Biden would have completely eradicated MAGA and Trumpism from our political discourse, but it would have diminished it further and set the stage for its eradication, or at least deep hibernation.
He was calm yet forceful in his repudiation of MAGA. He was a stalwart in this regard. Some might have thought he was a bit too stalwart for his own good, as it may have led him to stay in politics longer than many thought reasonable. But he was a dependable and strong voice for the freedom of regular people.
He never took a dark turn in his vision of America, he was always positive, unless talking about MAGA’s vision and what it could mean. We knew America had a fighting chance at retaining its dignity and honor with Biden at the helm.
I slept better at night knowing that Biden and his team were in charge of the country. After being shaken by four years of corruption, lawlessness, and incompetence, knowing that a restrained, wise statesman was now in control was comforting and gave me hope for the future of the country.
I believe we are on the precipice of a left-leaning renaissance in this country and that Biden was the perfect hand to deal out the first stages of this transition. He was and is the bridge to a new era. It turns out the bridge was shorter than he may have originally planned, but it’s a strong, stable bridge forged of hope, love, and pride.
Nothing I’ve said has even touched on any of the legislation that was passed on his watch, or foreign policy accomplishments he attained, all of which defied the reality of living in one of the most divisive and polarizing times in our history.
Because of all the above, Biden deserves to be lionized among other historically prominent Presidents as one of the greatest.
Thanks Joe Biden. You will be remembered and honored by me, and millions of other grateful Americans.
I agree we everything you said. Thank you Mr. President. I am supporting Vice President Harris all the way.
Well said! I have nothing to add, except to say I have felt the same comfort of his presidency and I sincerely pray for his speedy recovery as he continues to steer our nation until January 2025.
